Kiran Jethwa gaining on ‘the best job’

Our representative for the ‘The Best Job In The World’ is inching closer to the mark by the day. XFM’s Kiran Jethwa currently ranks among the top 10. Last week he was 34 out of 50. Kiran is the only African in the running for a job that will see him bag Sh 7.6million over a 6-month period as a caretaker for Hamilton Island on the Australian coast.
As it is, the top 50 will be narrowed down to a final 11, ten of whom will be chosen by Australian Tourism Queensland, and an 11th ‘wild card’ applicant chosen by popular vote.

These top 10 and the wild card candidate will fly to Hamilton Island in early May to take part in the final selection process with the successful candidate announced on May 6. The successful applicant will begin work on July 1.
So, do you want to see him win? Check out his film profile and cast your vote daily for Africa’s only contender on http://www.islandreefjob.com/#/shortlisted-applicants/watch/tKhANd2Q5Qg.
Voting closes on March 20. Vote, vote, vote!

Bow Wow promoter interested in Kenya and Uganda

The news buzz is that American rapper Bow Wow will be in East Africa early next month. I would seem that the promoter Hemdee Kiwanuka is looking for a sponsor to bring the rapper to Kenya.
Already the rapper is booked for a show in Dar es Salaam on April 4 and another in Mwanza on April 6. The Ugandan promoter proved himself when he arranged for the performance by Joe, Tanto Metro and Devante in Uganda and Tanzania last year. Apparently the corporate sponsorship in Tanzania is more generous than in the other two East African countries.

Robber who attacked TPF11 winner arrested

One of the robbers who attacked TPF11 winner Esther ‘the body’ Nabaasa, her manager Tshaka Mayanja and Sound engineer Johan was arrested early last week on Monday.
The attack that happened early last month at Master Max Studios in Johannesburg at about 10.30am left Johan with a gunshot wound in his hand and the robbers making away with money valuables from the studio. Master Max studios is a sister studio to Gallo Records and is located at Johan’s home in Johannesburg. Esther escaped unharmed.
In a recent interview Tshaka revealed, “Johan called me on Monday and told me the police had arrested one of the thugs and were closing in on the rest.”

Matt Dillon was here!

Once in a while there are sightings in Nairobi of A-list celebrities from all over the world. One recent one was last week Wednesday. Our well-placed tipster saw American actor Matt Dillon at Westgate. The 44-year-old actor is famed for acting in the delightfully trashy Wild Things and as well as starring alongside then-girlfriend Cameron Diaz in There’s Something About Mary where he played a sleazy private investigator.
Dillon was said to be heading on safari, the source confirmed.
