THEME

The KENYA MONOLOGUE SLAM NIGHT was created to make more connections and create a community of actors who like live performances and appreciate an actor's work." The theme or motto of the KENYA MONOLOGUE SLAM NIGHT is dedication to the performers and foster a supportive yet lively environment for them. It’s an excellent way to get the ignition started in a young actor or relight the fire in an aged thespian.

The organizers’ also put together the KENYA ACTORS MONOLOGUE SLAM NIGHT with the intention of inviting and bringing together industry professionals (actors, directors, agents, producers etc) to create a networking event. Other special/guests will include, enthusiasts, and, of course, fellow actors some with recognizable faces.

Eddie Kimani: Calling all actors

For the first time ever in Kenya, theatre and screen actors will participate in an activity known as Monologue Slam nights. Starting next Tuesday, April 14, actors will audition for the chance to go head to head this 10 other thespians on April 23 at Club Galileos.
The concept is the brain child of TV and Radio personality Eddie Kimani. He said yesterday, “This will be a platform for actors to stand up and talk for themselves as well as an opportunity to network.”
“Monologues are an integral part in every actor/actress’s career,” said Eddie
Slam night will be a monthly event where the 10 performers have three minutes to impress the judges in a monologue and based on delivery, presentation and material, a winner will be chosen.
The winner will walk away with a Sh5,000 cash prize, a prestigious trophy and a lifeline to defend the title the following month.
It is organized by Igiza Actors Company mostly to encourage up-coming and existing actors to perform and showcase themselves using either self-written monologues or already published monologues.
The grand finale of the audition like process is scheduled to be held at the end of the year.
