BBA’S SHEILA TAKES UP MALARIA CAUSE


Big Brother reality star Sheila Kwamboka has taken up the eradication of Malaria cause. During her last year visit to Zimbabwe, Sheila revealed that she has set up a foundation to raise malaria awareness and was raising money to buy mosquito nets for free distribution.
Malaria is estimated to kill a child in Africa every 30 seconds and accounts for 90 percent of child deaths below five years in Africa South of Sahara. In Kenya, the infection rate are higher in Western Kenya where 300 suspected infections occur per day the most hit district being Kisii, where children as young as five months are affected. The district has been experiencing an upsurge in malaria cases yearly over the last decade during the months of June, July and August. The outbreaks occur shortly after the wet months of April and May.
Sheila was in the southern Africa country on invitation of Extra Media and the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority. Joined by fellow housemates Paloma (Zambia), Mwisho (Tanzania), Jennifer (Mozambique), Meryl (Namibia) and Lerato (South Africa), they attended Munya's movie premiere.
Munya stared in Lobola which means bride price, a love story about three brothers born to a rich United States-based Zimbabwean family who travel to the country of their parents on holiday, before deciding to get married.
