New sensation Doris Jepchumba aka Chumba launched her debut solo album, Kipla, at the Alliance Francaise Gardens in Nairobi last Friday. A finalist of the 2005 Spotlight on Kenya Music, Chumba is a soldier and member of the Lang'ata based Kenya Army outfit, Maroon Commandos band. She has been riding high with a series of hits from the album released last month by Soundafrica. The Nairobi event follows a similar launch the other weekend in Eldoret to Rift Valley audiences where she enjoys massive following. The guest performer for the night was Mombasa songbird Nyota Ndogo.
