Afya Bora Walk is a charity walk organized by Grace Community Center Trust with the primary aim of raising funds to construct and equip a community hospital; the Neema Hospital, located at Kahawa Sukari, off Thika Road in Ruiru District. The main thrust of this hospital is to increase access to quality health services especially to the low income earners.
Flagging – off the walk
The Walk, covering a distance of 500km, will start on Monday the 22nd of June at the Treasury Square in Mombasa and end on Saturday 4th July 2009 at the hospital site in Nairobi and will involve nine walkers including Ms Catherine Ndereba; a renown athlete. It will be flagged off by Hon George Thuo, the MP for Juja Constituency & Government Chief Whip.
Free medical camp at Emali
As Part of the walk, a FREE medical, dental, eye and VCT camp has been organized at email on Saturday 27th June 2009 where the walkers will be reflagged by the Hon. Peter Kiilu, the MP for Makueni
End of walk
The walk ends on Saturday 4th July 2009 at Neema Hospital Site in Kahawa Sukari, Nairobi. The walkers will be joined by the general public at the Kasarani near the Moi International Sports center and walk for about 5kms to the site. The Vice President or the Deputy Prime Minister will be the chief guest.
